Spend time in a stunning location, discover the real Uganda, go on unforgettable trips and help change lives while you’re here! It’s probably the easiest and most enjoyable way to support vulnerable people in Uganda. Come for a weekend, a week, or even a few months, it’s completely up to you.
Combine your stay with volunteering, a safari adventure, remote work as a digital nomad, or simply relax and enjoy the peace, clean air, and fresh food growing all around you.
While the house is cozy and inviting, it’s the garden that will likely steal your heart. Most days, you’ll find yourself drawn outside, spending hours in the fresh air. We’ve built a simple wooden garden house, complete with a comfy couch and a hammock, now what more could you possibly need?
Part of the garden is ornamental, though in truth, it’s alive with more than just beauty. A wide variety of birds call it home, especially sunbirds (picture) that visit daily, hovering gracefully as they sip nectar from the vibrant flowers. The lush greenery isn’t just a visual delight; it’s a haven for wildlife and a peaceful retreat for you.
Just beyond the garden is our small farm, home to free-range chickens, sheep, goats and pigs. We also grow an abundance of coffee (both Robusta and Arabica) thriving in the rich soil and fresh air. For coffee lovers, it’s a treat: organic, homegrown beans, ready to be roasted and ground for a delicious cup of coffee.
Can you picture it? The sun rising over the hills, birds fluttering through the trees, and a fresh cup of our coffee in hand — paired with a breakfast of organic, free-range eggs and homemade bread. The perfect start to a slow and relaxing morning in rural Uganda.
The rest of the garden bursts with life, filled with a vibrant mix of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Towering mango, avocado, lemon, orange, loquat, and soursop trees offer fresh, seasonal harvests, while several varieties of banana add to the tropical abundance. We also grow staples like beans, sweet potatoes, maize, and sunflowers.
And let’s not forget the herb garden brimming with ginger, rosemary, lemongrass, mint, turmeric, and more. Whether it’s for cooking, teas, or natural remedies, there’s always something fresh and nourishing to pick.
It’s a cozy bungalow-style house featuring two bedrooms, a modern bathroom with a toilet and shower, a kitchen, and a spacious open-plan dining and living area with large doors that open out to the garden. The house is powered by solar energy and the drinking water is delivered by the clouds.
The house is best suited for a couple; there are two bedrooms but the second bedroom houses the solar inverter (with a noisy fan) and is used as an office. It can be used as a bedroom when you don’t mind the background noise; many people have slept there without issues. We plan to relocate the inverter to the garage but at the moment we are simply lacking the finances (your visit could change that!) for that project.
The house is located in a peaceful rural setting, ideal for scenic walks in the beautiful mountains that surround it. Most visitors enjoy hiking Mount Ihunga, the highest peak in the area — a two to three hour climb that rewards you with stunning panoramic views.
There are also two waterfalls nearby, about 20 minutes away by motorcycle or car. Renting a motorcycle for around $10 per day is a fun and affordable way to explore. Prefer to sit back and relax? Just bring or buy a helmet and let a professional bodaboda (motorcycle taxi) driver take you around.
Discover the real Uganda! Enjoy the village life, visit one of the many church services, eat the local food, help on our project.. Anything is possible.
Perfect as a stopover/hub between Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (mountain gorillas), Lake Bunyonyi, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Mount Rwenzori.
A basic car with a driver costs about $45 a day. Planning a safari? You’ll need a good 4x4 and a skilled driver, which costs a bit more — starting at $100 per day, depending on the car.
Exploring by motorcycle is the ideal way to experience the area. Your driver will take you wherever you wish — and best of all, he knows every hidden gem and scenic viewpoint along the way.
If you’re comfortable riding a 110cc motorcycle, you’ll love the freedom to explore — it can take you to beautiful places where cars simply can’t go.
There is no washing machine so why not give this job to one of the ladies in the village?
The income from our safaris and house rentals goes straight back into supporting our local community. Thanks to our guests, we’re able to provide nutritious school lunches for children in rural areas, create meaningful jobs in our farm projects and install water tanks in key spots so families can access clean drinking water during the dry season.
So when you stay with us, you’re not just enjoying an unforgettable adventure, you’re also helping to make a real difference in people’s lives.
After your inquiry, we will contact you to talk about all the details. There are many questions; do you just want to stay and experience the Ugandan life or do you want to combine it with a lazy safari. Are you a digital nomad and will you need a proper internet connection? No problem, everything can be arranged!
